There is a terrific article by Katha Pollitt, “The Lack of Female Bylines in Magazines Is Old News” about the VIDA tally of male and female bylines. (URL below) Pollitt writes of the mythic norm guys’ strange problem with quantifying–one third women equals one half women, one half women equals two-thirds women.
